The World Economic Forum announced its 2020 Technology Pioneers. This year’s cohort is using innovations to protect climate, improve healthcare and much more. From Switzerland, Akselos, Climeworks and Energy Vault were selected.

AirBie launches its e-bike sharing service

 

Following the success of its pilot project with the city of Zug, AirBie, in partnership with the Swiss e-bike manufacturer Flyer AG has now launched its e-bike sharing service open to everyone in Zug, Baar and Cham. Twenty e-bikes are already circulating within the region.

W.A de Vigier award winner: Microcaps

 

Microcaps developed a patented technology that enables the size control of the microcapsules with Swiss precision such to ensure that they all behave exactly the same. Besides the pharma industry, the solution is also relevant for fragrances, flavours and probiotics.

W.A. de Vigier Award winner: Fenx

 

When choosing insulation materials, the building industry has to compromise on either price, flammability or ecological impact. FenX, a Zurich based startup, discovered a technique to turn industrial waste into handy. The company is currently developing high-performance insulation panels that are safe, non-flammable and have a minimal carbon footprint.

Wachstum und neue Köpfe bei Loanboox und uniqFEED

 

Die Fremdkapitalmarkt-Plattform Loanboox hat die 40 Milliarden-Grenze geknackt und einen neuen CEO geholt. Gründer Stefan Mühlemann fokussiert sich auf den Verwaltungsrat. Venture Kick awards CHF 450’000 to cleantech and edtech startups

 

While Bloom Biorenewables and INERGIO are developing petroleum alternatives and efficient energy units, the edtech startup SYLVA offers an integrated learning and assessment platform for educators. The three startups have each received CHF 150’000 from Venture Kick.
