The WT Wearable Technologies Innovation World Cup is the leading worldwide innovation competition awarding the most outstanding Wearable Technologies from all over the world. In their 12th call, 940 applications from young companies and techpreneurs were submitted. Only 28 were invited to pitch on stage at the WT | Wearable Technologies Conference 2018 EUROPE in Munich.
Seven WT Innovators of the Year 2018 made the race in the four categories ‘Lifestyle’, ‘Sports & Fitness’, ‘Healthcare’, and ‘Industrial’, as well as in the EBV IoT Hero Special Prize, the Geeny Connected Living Challenge and the AIQ Smart Clothing Challenge. The winner of the category Sports & Fitness is Tracktics from Switzerland.
Tracktics developed a football performance device that allows all football players to measure their athletic performance on the pitch, not only for professionals. The device combines advanced sensors, GPS data and evaluation algorithms to provide information on the most relevant athletic data of football players, such as on activity and distance, speed zone and spirits and on the tactical behaviour of the player.
The company is currently collaborating with the Real Madrid football school as their partner. Thousands of participants will be equipped with the Tracktics device. Their extensive performance analyses will be incorporated into the Fundación Real Madrid Clinics Scorecard and will be used to decide which players will be allowed to play at the Bernabèau Stadium.
