Swiss startups cause a stir at international competitions

Swiss startups have gained global recognition from both international and European awards. Recently, Flatev was awarded in Milan while Starmind, Qumram and WealthArc in London. All awards were handed out in acknowledgment of the innovations showcased by the startups before the audience.

Four category awards have been collected by Swiss startups from international and European conferences and exhibitions which were held in different countries. The winning startups include.

Flatev: Seeds&Chips Future Food Award
Last week, the “Seeds&Chips” Global Food Innovation Summit 2017 was held in Milan. The summit brings together startups, investors, companies and other major players in the food and tech, to share content and visions, projects and experiences on food innovation. Within the framework of the summit 12 awards were handed over to celebrate excellence and innovation. The Zurich based startup Flatev was bestowed with the category award “Future Food Award” Flatev developed a fully automatic table top tortilla machine, which makes fresh tortillas, pita, roti, and other flatbreads.

Starmind: AIconics Award
The Zurich based software company Starmind received an award at the AIconics summit in London. The AI Summit is the world’s first and largest conference and exhibition dedicated to the practical implications of AI for enterprise organisations. Thanks to their innovative solution, Starmind received an award as the winner of the category Best AI Breakthrough. Starmind developed a solution which enables employees to get access to company know-how in real time when facing a business challenge, looking for solutions or being a step ahead when talking to clients. The solution is based on artificial intelligence to automatically route any employee’s question to the right expert within the organization.

Wealthbriefing European Award
Two Swiss startups have been awarded at the Wealthbriefing Award ceremony. The awards are focused on the three main areas experts, products and services for wealth managers and clients/institutions of all sizes and types. The jury consisted of high level wealth management experts, including heads of private banking and multi-family offices. Swiss winners include:

WealthArc – Innovative Fintech solution and innovative client solution
WealthArc has developed an investment management platform for wealth managers. The fintech company leverages data analytics and artificial intelligence support systems to empower independent wealth managers to work more efficiently and to interact with their clients with a state of the art internet portal. Its solution covers the entire workflow from front- to back-office, and combines PMS - portfolio management system - and CRM. The platform automatically integrates all data from various custodian banks. In addition wealth managers can provide their clients with a holistic wealth overview on their non-financial assets: art, real estate, family businesses or trusts. For this innovative idea the startup won two category awards are the Wealthbriefing European Awards.

Qumram – Compliance
The RegTech startup offers digital compliance and risk management solutions that allows all digital activity and interactions (web, social, and mobile) to be recorded and replayed, in movie-like form. This ensures that there is a transparent digital audit trail for financial services organizations. In addition, the Qumrams’ solution enables global banks, investment and wealth management firms, insurance companies, and other financial institutions, to comply with regulatory requirements for digital record-keeping, detect fraud and improve the customer experience.
