Swiss Startup Capital invests in eyewear

 

Zurich based startup VIU offering affordable handmade designer eyewear has secured investment from Swiss Startup Capital, the investment arm of the Swiss Startup Group. By joining the investment portfolio, the startup will additionally benefit from the investors’ expertise.

 

Eyewear for every character, personality and style; that is the mission of VIU. Since 2013, the startup has been producing and commercialising spectacles, designed in Switzerland and handmade in Italy and Japan. With its innovative techniques, VIU has established itself as a pioneer in the eyewear market with more than 40 Flagship stores, and 40 partner stores and a strong online presence. The company has a growing customer base in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands and Spain. The company also has more than 300 employees.

Just recently, VIU joined the investment portfolio of Swiss Startup Capital. The investment was facilitated by the SSUC Investors Club, which caters to professional venture investors and single-family offices today counts 20 renowned ultra-high-net-worth individuals in Europe and one private bank. The Investors Club focuses on mature investment opportunities with revenues of 100’000.
