Stronger Swiss presence in Helsinki at Slush 2017

 

Slush is one of the world’s leading start-up and technology conferences. This year, more than 17,500 attendees from 120 countries are expected to attend the event from 30th November to 1st December 2017. A stronger Swiss presence will also be observed. Ten Swiss startups have been confirmed to showcase their solutions at the first Swiss booth at Slush.

 

Slush has grown from a small gathering of 300 local entrepreneurs to a leading start-up and technology event in the world. Held every year in Helsinki, the very main objective of the event is to facilitate founder and investor meetings and to build a world-wide startup community. This year the event organizers are expecting more than 17,500 attendees from 120 different countries around the world.

For Switzerland, Slush 2017 is a great opportunity to meet with other start-up founders and CEOs of some of the largest companies in the world. Last year Selma, Wingtra and BestMile participated in the event. Wingtra and BestMile were among the top 10 of the Digital Top 50 Awards by Google, McKinsey and Rocket Internet.

To further push Swiss startups, the Swiss Embassy in Finland together with S-GE and the CTI (Swiss Commission of Technology and Innovation) have for the first time organized a Swiss booth at Slush. Ten Startups have already been confirmed to showcase their innovation. These include:

AVAtronics Sarl –Developed a high-performance active noise cancellation technique for the Audio industry

Fashwell AG – an image analysis algorithm based on machine learning the Fashwell app enables users to find and buy their favourite fashion products online.

Fotokite – developed a light-weight tethered quadcopter for GoPro cameras for professional use.

Komed Health AG – built an encrypted and secure communication platform to foster instant medical team and patient communication

Olympe – offers a web-based platform that enables teams to collaboratively develop distributed software in minutes with the help of visual thinking and artificial intelligence. 

SimplicityBio SA – supports biotech and medtech companies create robust signatures models by using a panel of biomarkers based on genomics, proteomics or metabolomics data

Skypull SA – developed an autonomous tethered drone for energy production capturing the immense potential of high altitude winds.

sobu AG – with the principle of «buy – share – earn», sobu developed a platform where users recommend the products they bought online shop to their friends via social networks.

SThAR SA – developed a platform which helps marketing campaigns go viral through the use of Big Data algorithms and sociothermodynamic models on virality and collective human behaviour.

Topadur Pharma AG – developed drugs for treating non-healing wounds and to prevent excessive scarring of burn-wounds.

Other participants attending Slush 2017 include notable political figures who visit Slush to see and meet the new influencers as well as understand the strong entrepreneurial mind-set. The list of speakers of this year’s Slush event contains Al Gore, former US Vice-President and many other well-known representatives in the field of ICT.
