The student-run venture capital firm S2S Ventures helps entrepreneurs and SMEs transition from the early to the growth stage of their businesses. In contrast to traditional incubators, accelerators, or capital investors with “hands-off” approaches, the organization provides operational and foundational support to entrepreneurs to support their business's success.
With the first round of the CHF 10 Million Fund already secured, the independent VC organisation has also set up its team. The first committee comprises students from the University of Zurich, ETH Zurich, University of St. Gallen, and EPFL, with different science and business backgrounds. The advisory board is made up of a group of Venture capital experts.
Besides capital, the organisation provides selected teams with educational material and access to a large network, all designed to complement students’ education by sharing insights into the VC industry and to make student projects VC-ready. There will be multiple events, talks, and discussions for aspiring candidates during the ongoing fall semester.
Open for applications
This semester, the venture firm has kicked off at four different universities in three different cities: Zurich, St. Gallen and Lausanne. Students solving global problems with innovative, scalable, and profitable solutions at the pre-seed stage are invited to submit their applications.
For a project to pass the selection stage, it should also have a competitive advantage, the first pilot customers or potential users and technical feasibility. Aspiring candidates should be (if not yet founded) incorporated as a GmbH or SA in Switzerland, EU or USA. At least one of the team members is a student at the Swiss university, and the co-founders should own at least 70 per cent of the company. More requirements are available on the S2S platform. The funds can be used for incorporation, and a stake of up to 15% will be taken over by the firm. The selection process will take place continuously during the course of the semester.
The registration form for the first round of selection is available. Apply now.
