Climathon is a global 24-hour Hackathon, which will take place simultaneously in more than 146 cities around the world on 27 October 2017. The event brings together the challenges of the world’s cities with the people who have the ability to solve them. In Switzerland, the Climathon will again take place in Zurich under the organisation of the City of Zurich, Energie 360°, Climate-KIC and Impact Hub Zurich. Participants will gather at the new Impact Hub Zürich Space, Kraftwerk, in Selnau.
Innovators – including students, startups, entrepreneurs, professionals and developers – are invited to submit their applications. During the 24 hours, they will create new solutions for local climate change problems with focus on four main topics: energy, food, climate change adaptation and e-mobility for City Zurich and Energie 360°. Experts and mentors will support each team in their solution-finding process, before pitching their ideas in front of a local jury.
A new track for Startup
This year, a new track for existing startups has been created. They will have the opportunity to adapt their product or service to one of the challenges provided by the partners. The best teams will become part of the Climate-KIC Greenhouse. Climate-KIC funds selected Greenhouse project groups with up to €2,500 for a period of 6 months and helps them transform their climate innovation ideas into sustainable business models with marketable products or services. In addition, they will assess the market potential of their idea with the support of the city of Zurich and Energie 360° whilst benefiting from investor coaching and assessment.
The Hackathon, under the theme "Hack Zurich into a green future", will take place from Friday 27th October, 2017 at 3:00 PM to Saturday 28th October 2017 at 7:00 PM.
The deadline for applications is 15 October 2017.
