Recognition and support to boost Swiss startups

Just as many events are held online due to the pandemic, so are award ceremonies worldwide. Swiss Swiss startups have participated in some of the recent competition finals and won prizes of different sizes and kinds. 

Virtual i Technologies | Morgan Stanley Innovation Lab
The Zurich based startup, offering a patented risk underwriting analytics platform that allows insurers and brokers to have real-time visual data and professional assessment on inspection properties without travelling, has been accepted to the Multicultural Morgan Stanley Innovation Lab in New York. The accelerator focuses on early-stage technology startups with a multicultural or woman founder, co‐founder, CTO or other C-suite members developing innovative solutions across sectors. Out of 700 submitted applications, only 11 made it to the program; they will receive investment from Morgan Stanley and tailored support to boost their growth and development from 16 February through July. By participating in the program, virtual i has obtained the opportunity to roll out into the US markets. 

Virtual i Technologies also won the DXC Technology Invitational Insurtech award 2021, Europe. DXC runs a global series of competitions called the DXC Invitational for late-stage start-ups and scale-ups to help drive innovation in the market and create positive change. Through the program, DXC collaborates with start-up and scale-up organisations to identify the latest innovations applicable to the insurance industry. This is the first time the competition, in its fourth year, was held in Europe. 

GlobalM Comcast NBCUniversal SportsTech Accelerator
Selected from over one thousand applicants, GlobalM is among the ten startups selected for the inaugural Comcast NBCUniversal SportsTech Accelerator. GlobalM provides professional streaming solutions in broadcast quality to media outlets and broadcasters featuring an advanced secure video streaming network to meet the requirements for high-quality, low-latency LIVE or file-based video delivery over the Internet. During the 12-week program, the startup will bender from a custom curriculum featuring workshops on various topics, mentorship from industry leaders, collaboration opportunities with corporations, and exchange with seasoned startup founders. The program will conclude with a demo day on 26 May.

Apiax | Asia Private Banker’s Technology Award | Most Promising FinTech Startup
The technology by Apiax provides easy access to compliance knowledge, enabling companies in an increasingly regulated economy to stay focused on their core business objectives while delivering high value and unique experiences to their customers. Thanks to its innovativeness, Apiax continues to impress juries at different competitions. The latest prize comes from the sixth edition of the Asia Private Banker’s Technology Award

Planted | Swiss Vegan Awards
Based in Zurich, Planted grows, harvests and produces and plant-based meat in Switzerland, Germany, and from January this year, two products are available in Austria. Alongside its planted Chicken, the startup has broadened its assortment to include pulled chicken for burgers and Kebab. Thanks to its innovativeness, the company outcompeted more than 279 startups that applied for the Swiss Vegan Awards

Involi | ATM Awards | Categories Service Provision and Enabling Technology  
Organised by Air Traffic Management Magazine and Unmanned Airspace, the ATM Awards encourage innovation in the performance areas of safety, on-time performance, cost efficiency and environmental responsibility. Involi, developing air traffic awareness systems for professional drone applications and regional airports, scored second place in two categories; the Service Provision category for our surveillance data for safe drone flights; and the Enabling Technology category for our air traffic awareness programme for regional airports.
