Klazz, the online platform reinventing language travel, raised USD 800.000 in a pre-seed investment round this summer. The company was co-founded by serial entrepreneur and business angel Roland Zeller, Magdalena Olszewska (CMO) and Oliver Flueckiger (CEO). The company behind the brand Klazz is incorporated in Zurich. The team is based in Berlin, London and Zurich.
Validation with real customersSince the first classes in August 2017, already almost 200 students have traveled to London to learn English and discover the city with Klazz. “We expect this number to increase significantly as in August 2018 we launched in 3 new sourcing markets. With the new investment, we will expand to one more market this year and launch additional destinations in upcoming months” - said Magdalena Olszewska. Currently, Klazz operates on the French, Italian, Swiss, German, Austrian and Belgian markets and offers high-end language travel experience in London.
Experienced team“The goal of Klazz is to make learning English abroad accessible to everyone,” said Roland Zeller. He is founder of Switzerland’s first OTA - travel.ch (sold in 2012) and the first investor in many successful travel-startups, such as Getyourguide or Travelperk. With comprehensive knowledge of the startup ecosystem, travel industry and experience in business administration as well as investors relation, Roland Zeller is not only founder, serial entrepreneur and investor but also a board member and advisor at startups all over Europe.
Responsible for realization of the vision is an international team. A constantly growing group of experts takes care of the product, its promotion, and clients satisfaction. “Happy customers are a real validation of our product”, said Oliver Flueckiger. “As a former academic teacher, I know how important tailor-made classes and good teachers are for the learning process. By combining them with accommodation, with local host families, and with additional activities we create the optimal environment for our students to learn and practice English at the same time” - added Oliver Flückiger. Before Klazz he started the award-winning startup Rayneer, where he served as CEO and co-founder from 2010 till 2014. In 2015 Oliver started lecturing at universities in Zurich (UZH, HWZ) in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management. He left academic teaching in 2017 to focus on Klazz, which he had started to build with Roland Zeller in early 2016. He serves as CEO of Klazz since 2017.
