This edition presents the Swiss startups that have been recently awarded in global competitions or selected for awards. DEPsys: Frost & SullivanThe Zurich based startup developed the GridEye, is a simpler, more efficient and cheaper grid optimization solution that enables electricity operators to maintain operational excellence of their distribution grids despite increasing disruption from distributed energy sources. The GridEye platform digitalizes grid operation by integrating hardware and software components into various parts of the distribution grid. The company's model-less approach towards distribution grid analysis and control enables decentralized intelligence and allows it to perform real-time grid analysis. This approach, combined with funding from industry majors, makes DEPsys well-positioned to expand its innovative technology to new markets worldwide. Based on its recent analysis of the European digital grid market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes DEPsys with the European New Product Innovation Award 2019 for developing an intelligent grid optimization platform. Nanolive: The Scientist, New YorkEvery year The Scientist, a magazine for life sciences, identifies the latest and best technologies and techniques in the life-science industry. In the current edition, Nanolive’s microscope CX-A was selected among the Top 10 innovations of 2019. CX-A is the world’s first label-free live-cell imaging microscope. This technology builds on the 3D Cell Explorer design. The device is automated so that scientists can program various fields of view they would like to observe in a single slide or in 96-well plates, then walk away and let the machine do the work.
