GetYourGuide: One million bookings per month

GetYourGuide, the booking platform for travel experiences, crossed major growth milestones such as over one million ticket bookings in a single month in August 2018. In addition, the company announced it has named Sharon McCollam, former Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Financial Officer at US electronics retailer Best Buy, to its board of directors.

The last months were a time of continued growth, maturation and significant milestones for GetYourGuide:

On 25 September, GetYourGuide crossed the threshold of 20 million tickets booked all-time on its platform.

In August 2018, the company achieved over one million ticket bookings in a single month for the first time.

Since August 2018, GetYourGuide’s new branded Originals tours have been booked thousands of times and achieved a high satisfaction rating of 4.7 out of 5.

The board is now strengthened with the appointment of Sharon McCollam. McCollam brings more than two decades of leadership experience to GetYourGuide’s executive team.

“Sharon is joining our leadership team at an incredibly exciting time for GetYourGuide,” said Johannes Reck, CEO and Co-Founder of GetYourGuide. “As we finish summer on a high note, the knowledge Sharon brings from driving growth at some of the world’s largest consumer brands arrives at just the right moment. Her perspective will be crucial as we connect even more travelers around the world with incredible experiences.”

“GetYourGuide is a rising star in the tourism industry with an exciting journey ahead,” said McCollam. “The leadership team’s ambitious global mindset, focus on the customer experience, and vision for the future of travel inspired me, and I’m excited to join the board to lend my experience as GetYourGuide embarks on the next stage of this journey.”

Ms. McCollam is a veteran of several publicly traded companies, having served most recently as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer of Best Buy Co., Inc. until 2016, where she oversaw Best Buy's ‘Renew Blue’ transformation.
