Healthcare platform carecircle secures $2 million pre-seed capital

Cham-based carecircle is the world’s first global independent social platform for healthcare, enabling members to gain new and unique insights into conditions and cures. The secured capital will enable the startup to accelerate its growth and enhance the platform.

carecircle developed a patient-centric, global healthcare platform dedicated to closing the information gap in healthcare by combining social communities with crowd-based knowledge. The platform allows individuals living with chronic diseases to securely share their health journey and connect with people in similar situations. The platform also enables caregivers to find the answers to a given health condition. Furthermore, carecircle offers a learning space on various health topics, new medications and graphical tools for documenting and journaling health journeys, with data based on acceptable international health standards.

In December 2021, the startup launched its app in 158 countries, releasing it for free on the web, App Store and Google Play. Since then, Health Pioneers (early adopters) have tested and provided feedback – the testing phase is over, and now anyone can signup to join over 200 people that have registered so far.

carecircle has raised over $2m in pre-seed investment round including Pearl Street Equity LLC, a New York-based single-family office of James Zenni, Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Z Capital Group LLC. The founders and several business angels participated in the round.

The funding will enable carecircle to acquire more members through referral programmes and brand marketing activities. “We will also continue developing our platform, paying particular attention to the feedback from our Health Pioneers, and developing several proofs of concept of our B2B capabilities”, explains Andy Smith, Founder & CEO at carecircle.

Besides the investment, carecircle is part of the Microsoft for Startups program to benefit from Microsoft's expertise and technology to take the lead in consumer healthcare worldwide. carecircle is also a research partner of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zürich), and uses data powered by the WHODrug Global based in Uppsala, Sweden.
