Three Hackathons and three Startup Weekend, scheduled to take place from January to April in different parts of Switzerland, are already awaiting applications.
Open Food Hackdays, Lausanne and Basel– software developers, engineers, designers, nutritionists, civil servants, and entrepreneurs will gather to jointly develop new solutions for a transparent, efficient, and innovative food industry based on open data. The most promising projects will be chosen to be incubated for three to nine months receiving support depending on their need. The Hackdays will take place on 27 to 28 January 2018 at EPFL Lausanne and on 16 to 17 February2018 at alte Markthalle in Basel.

Microsoft is organising an 11-hour hack event for students. During the event, participants will develop their ideas with the guidance of Microsoft experts who will provide hands-on support to help them take their ideas to the next level. All ideas qualify for application including building bots, Artificial Intelligence or a Mixed Reality applications.The winner will travel to the United States for the Imagine Cup World Finals where winners from other countries will compete. The Imagine Cup winner will be awarded prizes of worth $100.000. Registration is now open.
Start Hack, 23-25 February 2018 – Students or recent graduates from any university around the world are invited to participate in the StartHack 2018 to work on their ideas focusing on the topics of Blockchain technology, Artificial intelligence, Internet of things and Augmented / Virtual reality. Participants will create teams and will be given 35 hours to come up with a product. The best teams will present their ideas at the START Summit event. Registration is now open.
Six Hackathon 16-18 March 2018, Zurich – the #SIXHackathon is a hub for developers, designers, entrepreneurs, marketers and sales specialists. In the given 48 hours, participants will work together on their ideas and transform them into concrete solutions. The focus topics for 2018 will be Financial APIs, Sustainable Investment, RegTech Services and Technology Exploitation in FinTech. Interested individuals are invited to submit their ideas until 15 January 2018. Attendance limited to 160 participants.
Startup Weekend is a global network of passionate leaders and entrepreneurs on a mission to inspire, educate, and empower individuals, teams and communities. Within 54 hours, teams together with coaches work to transform their business ideas into real business case. These are later present to the jury at the end of the event. Startup Weekends offer an ideal environment to test ideas and take the first steps towards launching a startup.
