The competition was part of the of the Fashion Innovation Week organised by Loomish and NetComm Suisse, which took place in Lugano from 22 to 27 March. Topics of the conference included regulation, Virtual and Augmented Reality, peculiarities of the Swiss and interesting growth markets like China etc. In addition, speakers shared insights from the fintech and the insurtech industry. One of the highlights of the week was the award ceremony of the First Fashion Innovation Award on Sunday. Ten companies from seven countries made it to the finals. Two Swiss start-ups were among the four winners:
EyeFitU’s machine learning technology matches size charts of each brand to consumers’ measurements, giving size suggestions for many different categories of garments, shoes and accessories. Its patented Sizing Engine is a world’s first and it combines statistical data, user body sizes, measures, preferences and feedback with the sizing of the clothing. The combination of information provided by users, brands/retailers, statistical data and user feedback continuously improves the algorithm and sizing recommendations. Access to sizing recommendations in 200+ brands and 50+ online stores. Each of these single or multi-brand online stores have approved EyeFitU as a trusted affiliate partner.
RealLook won the prize of the AGIRE foundation, Ticino’s innovation agency (picture above). The prize includes of a free workstation or an office for one year at Tecnopolo Ticino in Manno. The company will also benefit from direct consultancy from the foundation and a network of contacts to get in touch with the SRI (Regional Innovation System) and all its partners. RealLook based in Zurich today, already works with an atelier in Mendrisio to produce custom-made fashion. RealLook AG is a fashion-tech company developing a scalable on-demand manufacturing technology for tailor-made apparel under the brand name Selfnation. The technology covers the complete value chain from measurement taking with a mobile phone, online POS with 3D visualisation, pattern computation, manufacturing technology to customer care system.
The two other winners are Arylla from Canada (fighting fraud with a nanotechnology-based solution) and Newstore from the USA (cloud platform built to accelerate omnichannel for specialty retailers).
