The event features an experienced entrepreneur from your region:
Egle Katkeviciute, CSO and Co-Founder at Recolony. Egle joined the Recolony project in September 2021 and has been responsible since then for the setup and execution of in vivo experiments. As a co-founder and CSO of Recolony, Egle is coordinating all research activities to complete the preclinical phase towards the First-in-Human clinical trial. Egle obtained her PhD in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Zurich. In addition, Egle has an integrated Master's degree in Biochemistry from University of Glasgow with the industrial placement performed at MedImmune, Cambridge. 

Egle's company Recolony is focusing on the development of a bacteria-based therapy for colorectal cancer that consists primarily of selected bacteria of the gut microbiota. These bacteria have an enormous impact on the immune system and are able to provoke and enhance an immune reaction to fight cancer. The bacteria will be orally administered in gastro-resistant capsules with colonic release. With this approach, Recolony aims to develop a new class of drugs for the treatment and prevention of cancer. Recolony is a winner of all stages of Venture Kick, supported by Wyss Zurich and Gebert-Rüf-Stiftung, and represented the Swiss National Startup Team 2022 in Boston, USA.
